Yup, it's INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, the fourth installment in the long-stalled Indiana Jones franchise, and I'm curious to see if it'll be any good. I'll give it a shot, but what do you, dear readers, have to say on this one? Write in!
Obviously, Harrison Ford's way too old to make any of the derring do believable, but I heard they got a younger guy to handle that in a sidekick sort of way.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I've hated all the sequels to Raiders, and especially the second one. Kate Capshaw was bad comedy relief and had none of the chemistry with Ford that Karen Allen did and that little asian brat was just annoying. Not that the 3rd one was much better, as Sean Connery's presence was wasted by presenting his character as a feeble old man, even though the thought of him punching out some villain was way more believable than Ford.
That being said, this is Spielberg we're talking about, and he's as capable of churning out a masterpiece (Raiders, Jaws, Pvt. Ryan) as a piece of shit (A.I., Hook, 1941), so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and will wait until I see it to pass judgement.
Whoa, I cannot wait to NOT see this.
ReplyDeleteYou'll give just about anything a shot won't you? Why in a million years would I want to see this movie? I can't think of a reason.
ReplyDeleteShia le Beouf is about as disastrous casting-wise for this as that Lloyd kid in Phantom Menace. I weep for the series.
ReplyDelete"Indiana Jones and the Wheelchair of Doom"?
ReplyDeleteBut hey, the idea worked in Bubba-Ho-Tep, so maybe...
I have visions of Roger Moore's utterly bullshit blue-screen "heroics" in A View to a Kill. Hopefully, Speilberg will prove me wrong.
@Jared
ReplyDeleteI am a bit of a masochist when it comes to Spielberg, even though his last masterpiece was probably Raiders.
Hope springs eternal.
