Bit rubbery looking. I'd have been happier with more metallic plate mail, even if it had to be less form-fitting to achieve that. But other than that, design-wise, looks exactly right.
I've been saying for a while that going for the Coipel look for the Asgardians is the right way to go. Going Kirby or Simonson would just look awful in the context of three dimensions, as much as I love those comics.
Actually, that pic gives me douche-chills. Thor seems like he'd be one of the most difficult comic-to-film translations, and nothing about this image inspires me to think it will be more than a larger-budgeted version of the awful Thor that guest-starred on the tv version of "The Hulk".
But I've been wrong before. I thought the early footage of Ghost Rider (before they showed Cage as Johnny Blaze) was amazing, and I loathed the final outcome of that comic movie. And I was very skeptical of early Iron Man previews, but loved the finished movie.
In and off itself, there's nothing there I hate - but then, I thought Vincent D'Onofrio's "Thor" in Adventures in Babysitting was spot-on. SO I might not be a good judge.
Won’t know ’til I see Loki. Personally, I like Jeremy Piven for the role.
ReplyDeleteI'm sold. I love that pic of the Destroyer floating around too - that thing is gold.
ReplyDeletelooks good to me.

Looks Thor-ish to me!
ReplyDeleteDamn sight better than the Captain America pick. I'll second your emotion.

ReplyDeleteTotally ridiculous. How's he supposed to sail the Kon-Tilki in all that armor, I'd like to know.
ReplyDeleteI'll reserve judgment until we see the movie itself. (After all, that's why I watch a movie.)
ReplyDeleteBut as far as the look goes, it's movie-perfect.
Check out the pic for The Destroyer and it'll totally wave any doubt away that this movie will suck
