Pioneering musician and inventor Les Paul is dead at the age of ninety-four, and if not for him rock 'n' roll as we know it most likely would not exist. Think about it for a minute. With no Les Paul there would be no solid body electric guitar, meaning no Hendrix, no Stevie Ray Vaughn, no Eddie Van Halen, no Frank Zappa, no Steve Vai, no Dick Dale... Need I go on?

It is a sad day indeed.
At least he seems to have lived a good long life. It's been a really bad year for celebs' deaths.
