R.I.P. DAVE STEVENS, CREATOR OF THE ROCKETEER (1952-2008)

Dave Stevens, the vastly talented illustrator who created the Rocketeer, has passed away at the age of fifty-two, felled by leukemia. There's not much I can really say about this, except to note that the guy could draw like nobody's business and in many ways could be seen as being responsible for the resurgence of interest in pinup legend Bettie Page and her subsequent elevation to pop icon status starting in the 1980's.

For Stevens' obituary, check out the entry at
Newsarama.

And yet Rob Liefeld still lives...

Life is so fucking unfair.

This is indeed sad news. I loved the art he did for books like The Rocketeer as it had such an incredible style.
