ON THE LOOSE AT WIZARD WORLD PHILLY CON 2011-Day 2, Part 2: THE BIG FAT COSPLAY SHOOT

The early arrivals.

As seen in the previous chapters, the Wizard World Philly Con was a cosplaying Mecca, and one of the highlights in that department was the massive cosplay photo shoot outside of the main convention area. Perhaps three of four dozen costumed revelers showed up and merrily mingled and posed for the shutterbug cosplay enthusiasts and the official photographer for the online Wizard World magazine. I showed up to lend support to Amber and Ashley, but also to take shots of all the wonderful costumes. (NOTE: double-click on the photos to embiggen.)

When utter hawtness and geekery merrily collide, it's like the mating of peanut butter and chocolate.

Gotta love Robin. (I also totally dig Iron Fist.)

Arrowette and Impulse.

Han Pan as my favorite Harley Quinn out of the scores that I've seen over the years. She nailed the look perfectly, had the manic energy and bouncy athleticism, and in general just plain rocked the character like the champ that she is.

Bad guys and gals.

I particularly like this Poison Ivy. She has an old school pinup-meets-Preston Blair beauty.

Waiting to be called.

Sailor Moon and a Ninja Turtle.

The Crime Syndicate. I love how imposing Ultra-Man looks.

A tale of two Donna Troys.

An excellent Sailor Moon.

Go, Speed Racer, go!

DC Universe characters.

An outstanding Kang the Conqueror.

How could I not get a shot of me with this dude?

Two awesome Black Widows. Someone's been peeking inside my brain again...

This guy really did a great Impulse. Oh, and the Huntress to his left had her outfit may by the uber-talented geek goddess Amber, who is, among other things, a costume designer.

Two of Marvel's hardest badasses: Iron Fist and the Black Widow.

Marvel characters.

Harley Quinn versus Starman. I don't care what anyone says, crazy always trumps science.

I've gotta give it up for the lady rocking the animated version of Superwoman (the one with the ponytail). She totally brought the "fierce."

Batman finds an Ace up his sleeve. (Lucky bastard. He gets everything...)

Be still, my heart...

Catwoman, Darwyn Cooke-style.

Best Wolverine I've ever seen. This guy rocked this outfit and the standard yellow, black and blue number later in the day (more on that in the chapter).

A trio of fetching DC dames: The Huntress, Ace and Donna Troy.

Again I say, Best Harley Ever!

Again, Harley's acting steals the shot.

Heroes versus villains.

I love Ashley's smile in this one.

The Batman family.

Amazonian excellence: (L-R) Superwoman (animated version), Hippolyta, Superwoman (comics version), Wonder Girl (second costume version), Donna Troy (or Troia, if you prefer).

Blink of The Exiles.

Best Joker ever (more on him next chapter), and Ace only further beautifies the scenario.

Photobombed by Catwoman!

Spider-Man (original and black suit versions) and some of his adversaries.

Aquaman's fins, a detail frequently overlooked by dudes who cosplay the character.

The outstanding Adam West-era Batman and Batgirl.

Ace versus Harley.

Time-out for repairs and sore feet. Hey, cosplay ain't easy, but somebody's gotta do it. Strength, ladies!

TUNE IN TOMORROW FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER OF DAY 2: "ONCE MORE TO THE FLOOR."
