BEING PROACTIVE

Well, after all my recent issues with endless hiccuping and vomiting, I gave it a lot of thought and have decided that after this weekend's event at Tracey's and then the upcoming Monday's dialysis treatment are over (hopefully Shaunda can squeeze me in for a 6am start time), I will be checking in at the Mount Sinai ER on 15th Street in Manhattan. I will pack for a stay of a few days and will have full communications capabilities, so no worries there. This time I will be fully prepared.

I will fill in the dialysis center's staff about my plan and will come home after Monday's treatment to snag my go-bag (already packed), then it's off to the ER via Lyft. I will request a GI specialist because I simply can't take this anymore. I can't get in for a regular appointment prior to the one I have in mid-July, and there is no way in hell I can hold out that long. I will also let my caretakers at Mount Sinai know of my regular dialysis schedule, so I should get a day and a half (or so) of my GI issues being investigated before I am once more under the needles and tubes, albeit at Mount Sinai, where I first experienced dialysis.

I'm not worried or anything, but I have reached my endurance limit for hiccuping and puking, and hopefully this bit of proactivity will free me from some of the agony that has gone on for far too long. I just rejoined the living world after nearly two years of avoiding most socializing, due to the lockdown and dialysis, so I would like to be able to enjoy my return to having a life without having my speech interrupted by hiccups (speaking brings it on) and/or flying to the toilet to bring up whatever I have eaten, plus a surfeit of stomach acid. Not pleasant whatsoever.
